So, when does a small gardens design become a medium sized gardens design? The answer is not clear as everyone’s perception of the size of garden is relative so for the domestic garden let’s say small gardens are under 100m² and medium size gardens are between 100m² and 400m². I’m not sure this is any help but at least it gives you an idea.
A small gardens design can often be more difficult to design than a larger one as there’s only a small area in which to try and incorporate all the client’s requests, so it’s often the simple no fuss design which works the best . This does not mean though that the garden cannot be beautiful and the phrase, ‘small but perfectly formed ‘, may well be true.
The medium size garden gives a bit more scope for adding features, but possibly more maintenance which means more time spent keeping it looking good. These gardens tend to be the family gardens or possibly gardens surrounding an office or work area and often have to be functional as well as aesthetic.
